Some people might look at a ceiling that is far out of their reach and think there is no way they can repaint it. Other people may fashion a device to do the job out of common household objects.
Actually, there is a plastic "knuckle" that threads onto the end of that pole, and holds a sash brush rigid for long reaches. Get rid of that foam brush.
